Position Summary: Under limited supervision of the Chief Purchasing Officer, accomplishes the objectives of the Finance Division - Procurement. Assists with planning, organizing and directing all functions required to manage, operate and maintain supply management activities and services. Provides expert professional assistance to Chief Purchasing Officer, County staff and management, suppliers and contractors. Ensures compliance with the Procurement Code and all other applicable laws, ordinances, regulations and policies. Functions as the Chief Purchasing Officer in the CPO’s absence. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Minimum Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in supply management, procurement, business administration, logistics, business operations or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related work experience. •Five years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, business administration, or logistics, including three years of sourcing, negotiating, contract development and execution or centralized procurement activities. •Two years of supervisory experience across all years of job-related experience. •Must possess or have ability to obtain within first 60 days of employment and must maintain a valid New Mexico Class D Driver’s License. •Must successfully complete pre-employment physical exam prior to commencing work. •Successful completion of Need to Know training with one year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: •Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in supply management, procurement, business administration, logistics, business operations or related field. •Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) •Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), •Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), •Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), •Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), •Certified Supply Chain Management (CSCP), and/or •Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) certification.
