Our General Manager is responsible for leading our growth, ensuring our customers’ satisfaction and delivering bottom line results by driving the activities of all functional areas, including Production, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Quality, Finance, Human Resources and Sales. Our General Manager will provide long term vision and ensure partnership across the management team, as well as accountability for results, food safety and company policies and procedures. Our General Manager will have a strong, direct understanding of our Associates, our products and our processes. Our General Manager will demonstrate respect, honesty, inclusion, and safety.
Interface with Production leadership and Supply Chain to plan and prioritize production activities, reduce scrap and waste and manage labor;
Supervise and evaluates performance of all functional leaders;
Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices are always followed;
Liaise with Quality to ensure product quality; schedules production time to sort product with potential quality defects; assists in investigating root cause of customer complaints, maintain SQF-2 and get to SQF-3 certification, oversee environmental monitoring and sanitation readiness;
Record and initiate any corrective actions needed for food safety, quality, or issues brought by hourly employees;
Assist in implementing corrective actions to customer complaints; regulatory audit findings; and 3rd party audit non-compliances;
Liaise with Human Resources to hire front line production and warehouse employees and supervision; approve payroll; execute disciplinary action for production personnel;
Liaise with Maintenance to communicate equipment issues, assign urgency level to equipment breakdowns, and prioritize maintenance work orders;
Liaise with Supply Chain by assisting in prioritizing production jobs based on shipping schedules; communicating personnel and equipment deficiencies; communicating existing or potential raw material shortages., inventories, cycle counts, and overall inventory management and obsolescence;
Capable of using NetSuite ERP software to reconcile production, provide financial reporting and support overall management of EBC; and
Create and implement initiatives to improve productivity, product quality and grow sales and plant capabilities.

About Empire Bakery Commissary, LLC
Empire Bakery decorates occasion and dessert cakes, cookies and other dessert items for food retailers. The need for our products has exploded as retailers look to utilize their store personnel more efficiently and COVID concerns have increased the acceptance of retail ready items.
Empire Bakery has been in operation since 1997, currently employs over 170 Associates and is SQF-2 and Kosher certified. Our facility is in Rocky Mount, VA, approximately 30 minutes south of Roanoke, VA, 75 minutes north of Greensboro, NC and 2.5 hours north of Charlotte, NC.
Empire Bakery recently completed a $10 million expansion, which doubled our usable production space, added two new automated base iced lines, added 2,200 frozen pallet positions and increased common space to accommodate 250 Associates. Empire Bakery also implemented a NetSuite ERP system in 2019. Empire Bakery expects to double its production over the next 2 years, as well as seek certification for SQF-3 status.
