UW Medicine Supply Chain Management team has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary, full-time, PURCHASING SPECIALIST. This position is accountable for researching, managing, and processing customer requests in consultation with the Value Analysis team, Contracting, vendors, and customers. The Purchasing Specialist utilizes a variety of resources to identify contracted vendors and other procurement options that are compliant with UW Medicine Strategic Sourcing, University of Washington, and State of Washington rules and regulations. Under the direction of the System Purchasing Manager, the position is responsible for the review of new supply/equipment/service/vendor requests for compliance, product/vendor option research, solicitation of quotes, amendments and sole source justifications, and creation and management of complex specialty purchase orders. This position has program responsibilities for all of the Maintenance, Repairs, and Operations (MRO) areas, which includes areas such as Facilities, Maintenance, Clinical Engineering, Shared Services, and Administration, solely performing all of the responsibilities below. This position is accountable for ensuring the below responsibilities are performed with a high customer service orientation and in a way that meets the needs of the MRO areas. The incumbent performs all duties in a manner that promotes the UW Medicine Mission, Core Values, and philosophy. In all aspects, he/she serves as a role model for the Core Values and Mission of the organization. JOB CHARACTERISTICS Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Position Dimensions and Impact on UW Medicine Leadership Fiscal Management Process, Quality and Service Improvement Human Resource/Personnel Management Information Management NECESSARY SKILLS Typing, use of computers, computer software, and the ability to learn software applications necessary in the performance of typical work. Proficiency in utilizing the MMIS. Knowledge of general office equipment such a fax machines, copy machines, and printers. Ability to work in a busy, high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders to include vendors, coworkers, management, and clinical partners. General purchasing and vendor protocol. Demonstrated proficiency in English, both written and verbal, including active listening. Demonstrated proficiency in customer service and problem solving. Good telephone etiquette. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Continuous sitting. Continuous use of a computer/typing. Frequent utilization of a phone. EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Education Bachelor’s degree. Experience Two years of professional buying/Supply Chain/Finance experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required. Healthcare experience preferred. Licenses/Certifications CMRP (Certified Materials Resource Professional) is preferred. COMPENSATION The annual compensation shall be determined based upon the experience and the qualifications of the incumbent. |
