As our Sr. Buyer, you will work directly with management to address all aspects of supply chain management, commodity strategy and business plans, procurement support, market trends assessment, product availability, cost analysis, agreements, negotiations and vendor management. The Sr. Buyer will not only manage and own the entire process, but will be a “hands-on” contributor with willingness to do whatever it takes. Ours is a fast-paced environment with constant change. Being adaptable and flexible will be a true asset to this role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare and issue moderate to high complexity purchase orders and complex agreements.
Ensure all procurement actions which commit the company are properly documented, reviewed and approved consistent with policy and procedure.
Using your skills and experience, identify and negotiate risks in terms and conditions when assessing cost, delivery, quality and performance requirements.
Analyze actuals vs. budget to develop and execute strategies to continuously improve cost performance.
Manage technological systems that track shipment, inventory and supply of materials.
Maintain and develop effective relationships with vendors and suppliers, including development of supplier performance metrics, dashboard and/or scorecards.
Work with engineering and sales on vendor/supplier selection to achieve optimal quality, cost and delivery terms on BOMs for customer bids.
Monitor and update departments regarding price fluctuations of goods and vendor pricing.
Prepare daily, weekly and monthly procurement reports.
Ensure adherence to all safety, health and environmental rules & regulations.
Keep abreast of changing industry trends.
Drive continuous improvement in supply chain processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience (typically 5 years or more)
Previous working experience in procurement or as a buyer, demonstrating proficient knowledge of procurement practices and principles, including quality processes and other compliance requirements and local laws.
Strong knowledge and experience with SAP/MRP systems (typically 2 or more years)
Ability to adapt and flex along with business requirements and need
Demonstrated business acumen
Ability to travel to meet with suppliers
