Current Need McKesson is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technical Consultant to cover clients in the Northeast/East region. Qualified candidates must be willing to work remotely. Candidate will perform and maintain Quality Assurance records with customer.
The Clinical Laboratory Technical Consultant is qualified to provide technical and scientific oversight of each of the specialties of service in which the laboratory performs testing. The consultant interfaces with the administration and laboratory staff, sales force, vendors, consulting team and leaders, and corporate personnel and leadership during all applications of the position.
Provide expertise in the review of new and existing clinical laboratories, to include all levels of complexity. Provides guidance in workflow layout, organization, efficient standards of practice and logistical concerns through implementation process.
Establish and ensure that an acceptable General Laboratory Policy and Procedure inclusive of a Quality Control Program and a Quality Assessment Plan is in place and is followed according to all CLIA and state specific guidelines and established parameters for acceptable performance. Monitors and provides QA reviews on new and existing accounts monthly to ensure compliance.
Provide expertise and guidance on all federal (CLIA) and state rules and regulatory standards in all accreditation organization regulatory standards over and above the state and federal requirements.
Select, verify, establish, and monitor acceptable level of analytical performance of test methods as appropriate for the clinical environment.
Resolve technical problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken whenever systems deviate from the established performance specifications.
Identify needs and provide training of staff, as appropriate. Assess competency and evaluate performance of staff to adequately perform assigned laboratory activities.
Ensure enrollment, participation, and remediation, as required, in an approved Proficiency Testing program as required for the testing offered.
4 years hospital management experience in area of expertise
4+ years experience in a clinical laboratory setting
Proficiency using software systems application required
Must have Medical Technologist experience with a preference for generalist experience and/or technical consulting experience
Expertise in CLIA (federal) regulatory guidelines
State specific regulatory standards and accreditation organization standards to include COLA, CAP and Joint Commission
Setup and ongoing technical consulting assistance through CLIA for various clinical laboratory settings in the states specified
Must be willing to work remotely with customers
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Experience as a laboratory supervisor, manager, or technical consultant desired.
Qualified candidates should have one of the following:
Doctoral or Master's Degree in a laboratory science and have a minimum of one year of lab training or experience in the specialty of non-waived testing in the areas of laboratory service of responsibility
Bachelor's Degree in a laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution and have at least 2 years laboratory training or experience in the specialty of non-waived testing in the area of laboratory service of responsibility. The training or experience requirements may be acquired concurrently for more than one specialty.
ASCP certification is preferred
Med Tech license if required to do so by the state where the laboratory is located
Position will start working remotely with customers. Once travel approved will require 70% travel within territory
