The Sr. Manager, Fleet Operation is responsible for the fleet analysis and planning processes and providing direction to field leadership regrading asset and life-cycle management. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining equipment and fleet strategy and optimization (tractor, truck, and trailer), policy and procedures, as well as conducting fleet management training for field locations. This role provides metrics and score cards for fuel, maintenance expenses, and asset management cost effectiveness. Other functions include managing third party vendors, negotiating specifications, terms and conditions, rates, and managing risk and liabilities as it pertains to terms and conditions of vehicle leases and maintenance contracts. On an ongoing basis, provide cost management expertise to continually drive costs out of the operations and improve profitability along with managing equipment disposal strategies to maximize gain on sale.
Liaise with all levels of the organization from local management to senior leadership to provide strategic guidance on: asset strategy; equipment life-cycle management; fuel sourcing; equipment budgeting; equipment utilization; supplier management
Develop and direct fleet strategy, sourcing and deployment of equipment
Maintain centralized view of fleet activities from all sources (3rd party, Penske leased, owned)
Manage deployment of new equipment, and redeployment of existing equipment
Working closely with Product Managers to develop successful, comprehensive and low cost equipment strategies for business renewals and new customer bids
During new customer launches, lead development of equipment strategy, planning and implementation and start-up.
Cost management expertise - Audit and analyze expense data, review equipment damage estimates, report mileage utilization concerns, audit rebilled expenses with the objective of maximizing life-cycle and reducing costs
Working with Field Management, develop site specific KPIs and SOPs relative to equipment performance where required
Monitor and analyze fleet utilization and performance; leverage efficiencies of overall fleet to provide improved returns in smaller operations
Evaluate new and emerging technologies for applicability, effectiveness and suitability; manage implementation where feasible of these technologies
Manage all third party equipment vendors; negotiate rates, specifications, terms and conditions, maintenance contracts
Manage risk and liabilities as it pertains to terms and conditions of vehicle leases
Monitor timeline for preventive maintenance activities to ensure field compliance, billing accuracy
Conduct fleet management training for field locations as required
Regularly schedule and attend Fleet reviews, provide direction on specific opportunities and activities to improve fleet efficiencies and reduce costs
Bachelor???s Degree in Business Operations or Supply Chain Management preferred
5-7 years Fleet Asset Management experience with experience leading teams and managing processes required
Deep understanding of supply chain principles, sourcing and contracting
Strong analytical and presentation skills, written/oral communication and organizational skills are required
Knowledge of financial principles and practices is required
Successful track record of building relationships with stakeholders, customers, and vendors that have resulted in high customer satisfaction is required
Ability to drive results and bring viable solutions to the table in a timely manner is required
Ability to problem solve in a creative manner is required
High level knowledge of equipment specifications, pricing, and fleet analytics methodology and standards is required
Excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to multi-task and manage projects from start to finish
Ability to work with all levels of the company and have excellent presentation skills
Aptitude to think outside the box, be creative, and feel comfortable with identifying opportunity for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
