Oshkosh Door Company produces Architectural Doors both domestically and internationally. Located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin with 100 employees we have a history dating back to the Paine Lumber and Saw Company founded in 1853. Although we have evolved over the years, we still hold true to the original craftmanship of producing high end architectural doors for our customers.
As a Materials Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient sourcing of raw materials, managing our inventory and warehouse, inbound freight, and maintaining our production schedule with close interactions between our sales/detailers and operations staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers and inbound freight carriers to maximize quality, price, and delivery
- Evaluate and identify new supplier opportunities for the best quality, price, and delivery balance
- Lead negotiations with suppliers regarding inventory management, quality, and pricing and evaluating consignment inventory and warehousing opportunities
- Appraise supplier manufacturing ability through on-site visits and metrics, monitor supplier quality and delivery performance
- Utilize MRP to minimize inventory cost, lead time, strategic inventory, and freight costs
- Resolve customer and supplier inquiries regarding order status, delivery, or changes
- Leverage relationship with suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries, to resolve shortages, delivery issues, and quality issues
- Evaluate and improve purchase price variances of purchased products to the price book to current prices
- Oversee, mentor, manage, and develop purchasing departmental staff with goals and objectives
- Identify, manage, and implement projects to reduce costs and improve quality and delivery of products from our suppliers
- Align purchasing with the business needs and goals of the company by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
- Maximize inventory turns and reduce waste
- Assess and select transportation routes to effectively maximize inventory turns and reduce waste
- Perform additional responsibilities as necessary within and outside of department to ensure the continued success of Oshkosh Door Company

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or other related fields
- Minimum 5 years’ progressive responsibility in a supply chain or purchasing role
- Previous experience or familiarity with the custom wood products industry a plus
- Previous supervisor experience preferred
- Excellent computer skills: Microsoft products and ERP system required, AS400 and Salesforce experience helpful
- Demonstrated supplier management and negotiation skills
- APICS or Purchasing certification is a plus
