The Director of Tenant Services & Operations directs the activities of the Tenant Services & Operations division to ensure successful execution of maritime operations and customer service in accordance with Port policy. They are directly responsible for optimizing use of Port properties and facilities, monitoring and responding to customer needs, engaging in operational issues, and acting as a primary contact for Port customers and supply chain partners. The role currently oversees fifteen (15) teammates, and reports to the Managing Director of Commercial Operations.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The Role:
Provides leadership and direction for the division that handles operations and customer service for the Port of Long Beach.
Provides direct and indirect supervision of all Tenant Services and Operations staff, establishing goals and objectives, measuring performance, and ensuring an effective, customer-oriented service level is attained.
Manages day-to-day operations of the division, including implementation of division policy; excellent customer service and support; and administration and enforcement of lease and tariff provisions.
Maintains Port facilities, scheduling vessels, issuing permits and handling division personnel issues.
Develops and implements a customer service and operations plan to ensure the Port remains competitive.
Directs and supports administration tasks as needed for successful operation of the port and its operations.
Analyzes operational trends, identifies, tracks, communicates key metrics and prepares quarterly reports for Executive Management and the Harbor Commission.
Interacts with customers to ensure superior customer service, develop relationships, identify business opportunities and gather market intelligence.
Serves as a key point of contact and mediator for Port-related customer issues.
Facilitates collaborative business practice improvements.
Collaborates with other divisions to accomplish goals of the Commercial Operations Bureau.
Trains and mentors staff and provides guidance on professional development.
Plans, supervises and allocates resources.
Prepares the Division's annual personnel and non-personnel budget.
Performs other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS TO FILE
What we are looking for... Requirements for the position include:
A Bachelor's Degree in International Trade, Public or Business Administration, Maritime Transportation, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a closely related field is required. Experience offering specific and substantial preparation for the duties of the position may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
10 years or more of Operations Management and/or Customer Service experience with a focus in international trade, supply chain management, terminal operations, and/or maritime-related business.
5 years or more of progressively responsible management experience.
Ability to travel to work-related events, including off-site meetings.
Experience working overseas and/or with international business partners is desired, but not required.
To thrive, you will need strong negotiation skills, political savviness, excellent client/customer relation skills, and exceptional public speaking/presentation skills. It is essential you possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Executive Management, and both domestic and international clients from diverse backgrounds and areas of technical expertise.
