JOB SUMMARY:

To manage and control supplies, services, and equipment from acquisition to disposition including:

a. Writing and adhering to product and equipment specifications.

b. Supervising the procurement of all supplies, services and equipment through a centralized purchasing process.

c. Supervising the receiving and accounting receipt of all supplies.

d. Stocking supplies for adequate periods of time.

e. Studying and reviewing utilization of material within the institution.

f. Developing and adhering to effective policies and procedures for the management of supplies and materials.

g. Standardizing and evaluating all products, equipment, and services.

h. Distributing all goods and services.

i. Controlling printing/copying of stock and non-stock forms.

j. Supervising the Biomedical Department and ensures that new and existing equipment are appropriately serviced.

l. Reviewing and evaluating all supply charges annually.

m. Accepts other duties, as requested by supervisor.

MANAGING AND DEALING WITH PEOPLE

1. 1. Recruits and selects personnel with the necessary skills and experience to meet the job requirements of their position.
   2. Trains personnel to do their major duties and improve their skills and performance on the job.
2. 3. Encourages subordinates to achieve desired goals.
3. 4. Appraises the performance of all subordinates in a complete and timely manner.
4. 5. Controls wage and salary expenditures by effectively managing budgeted FTE's consistent with the volume of work.
   6. Arranges work assignments to meet the needs and utilize the capabilities of subordinates while enhancing the achievement of short and longer-term department goals

ACHIEVING RESULTS

1. 1. Achieves departmental goals and objectives as specified in the past fiscal year budget.
2. 2. Manages the department within the revenue (if appropriate) and/or operating expenses as budgeted in the current fiscal year.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

1. The Director of Supply Chain must have a working knowledge of at least the following areas:

a. Logistics

b. Business Management

c. Business ethics

d. Management principles

e. Business math

f. Basic personnel administration

2. An acceptable degree in Business Administration or an experiential equivalency with at least five years of experience in supplies, process, and distribution phases of supply chain in the hospital setting is highly desirable.

3. The following skills are required:

a. Fundamental management skills of planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and staffing.

b. The ability to complete tasks through, with, and by people.

c. Good communications skills.
