Provide operational leadership to a single customer account and execute the day to day operations which have Penske-wide implications and impact. The position will be the primary operational and strategic owner of the local operations visible to both Penske and the Customer. Customer operations consist of but are not limited to the inbound shipment of parts and outbound shipments of final product, and all of the various entities utilized to perform such work (Suppliers, 3PL's, Carriers, etc.).
Major Responsibilities:
This position is a liaison between Penske and the client location. Will be involved in Fleet routing, Cost savings, performance improvement, transportation issues and supplier compliance.
-Communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable.
-The Liaison on site is responsible to provide tactical direction and leadership to ensure customer requirements are met. These efforts will require cross-functional involvement within Penske Logistics, customers, vendors, suppliers, and may also include Penske Truck Leasing. Indirect coordination and management of the following support functions are critical to the success of the customer and position. Support and initiate cost savings solutions while maintaining or improving performance to service metrics.
Operations:
-Supervise logistics operations including customer service, Have a thorough working knowledge of the site's operating systems in order to ensure operational compliance and correct exception resolution, Complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
-Responsible for day-to-day execution of all account activities. Monitors carrier performance to optimize value delivered to the customer. Quickly resolve any operations issues to eliminate production loss or transportation service failures and communicate with the customer.
-Understand freight flows and a diverse carrier base to solve complex customer supply chain challenges
-Review operating metrics and repair out-of-tolerance results
-Understand how customer, supplier and vendor fleets work together and impact overall supply chain performance
-Recommend vendors and suppliers necessary to deploy logistics solutions
-Create and foster a relationship with the customer's logistics manager to facilitate operational stability
Finance:
-Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures such as inventory accuracy and control, returns, damages, etc, Understand the relationship between decision-making and profitability
-Continuously evaluate account to maintain and measure deliverables meet customer needs and are aligned to contractual rates
-Understand P&L, budget, and financial health of the operation
-Support the achievement of year-over-year customer cost savings and objectives
Safety:
-Ensure day-to-day management and associate activities are in alignment with the location safety strategy, Provide associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance, Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures.
Growth / Customer Experience:
-Understand the location-specific customer goals & objectives, Ensure the customer knows that we are committed to helping them meet their objectives, Determine areas that could benefit from Continuous Improvement efforts.
-Manage the clients' expectations regarding our team's satisfactory performance and service execution
-Work closely with the customer's leadership and project team during scope development and option analysis phase
-Proactively look for opportunities to grow existing operation and stay current on the customer's industry
-Communicating all progress on a set cadence with the customer and up through Penske covering KPI's and continuous improvement activities
-Meet and exceed weekly and monthly performance goals
-Collaborate and work effectively with other departments to increase overall productivity for the company
QUALIFICATIONS:
-2 - 4 years related functional experience
-High School Diploma or equivalent required
-Bachelors Degree preferred
-Strong written/oral communication and organizational skills are required
-Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required
-Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
-Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
