The Division of Perioperative Services delivers patient care through provision and management of capital, supplies, instrumentation, and technological support as well as human resources in collaboration with medical and para-medical staff to effectively manage patients undergoing elective, urgent, and emergent surgical intervention. This position is responsible for assisting with patient care in close working relationships with the surgical team. The role primarily provides technical support for patients undergoing urgent and emergent surgical interventions in various locations to include Pavilion Operating Room, UT Surgery Suite, Same Day Surgery Center, and Children's Surgery Center.

Responsibilities Perioperative Services has an annual supply expense budget of over $52 million to support over 30,000 surgical cases in numerous surgical services. This position is a member of the Perioperative Business Services Team providing advanced, analytical support and procurement of capital, and non-capital equipment, supplies, implants, and instruments used in the operating rooms within Perioperative Services. This position is responsible for managing new and replacement equipment requests and considerations for the Equipment Assessment Committee. Following University policies and procedures on procurement, inventory, and financial controls, the incumbent has the authority to place requisitions for the department, totaling over 10,000 transactions annually. Works with internal and external clients, surgeons, OR leadership, vendors. The incumbent integrates knowledge of technologically complex medical and surgical supplies, capital equipment, implants, and vendor contracts to ensure a reliable flow of medical supplies is available when needed. The incumbent resolves pricing and contract issues with Central Purchasing and invoicing issues with Accounts Payable. The incumbent assists in maintaining inventory tracking systems and supply waste reporting to ensure accurate inventories and supply waste reduction. Identifies and recommends supply cost reduction opportunities and operational efficiencies, assisting in implementing improvement initiatives. Works under the general direction of the Perioperative Services Business Manager.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or another health-related field preferred.
Extensive demonstrated experience in materials management in the Operating Room or other Hospital clinical setting is required.
Experience working with high value capital clinical/hospital/clinical equipment procurement programs including justification return on investment and value analysis.
A combination of degree/education with relevant capital equipment and materials management experience in a similar setting large complex clinical, hospital organizational setting may be considered qualifying.
Experience with supply chain management to encompass supply chain logistics, procurement, inventory management, contract management.
Knowledge of fiscal management and accounting practices and policies.
Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills to meet deadlines, prioritize work and complete projects in a demanding environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Experience developing and working with metrics including skill organizing, analyzing rationale, procurement justifications, reporting data. Manage capital requests for inclusion in Capital Program and clearly communicate status, recommendations, and conclusions.
