Little League International in Williamsport, PA is looking to hire a full-time Purchasing Assistant to join our Materials Management team. Individuals who would like to work for an established nonprofit organization that plays a positive role in the lives of millions of youths around the world and whohave detailed knowledge of purchasing concepts are encouraged to apply.
This full-time non-exempt position has core hours of Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. While most work is done during normal business hours, occasional peaks in workload and special events such as client meetings or calls and the Little League World Series may require working in the evenings and on weekends. Occasional (<10%) travel may be required.
This position earns a competitive salary commensurate with skills and experience. A drug screen and background checks are required. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PURCHASING ASSISTANT AT LITTLE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL
As a Purchasing Assistant, you will provide assistance and support to the Director of Materials Management and will be responsible for processing purchase requisitions submitted by various departments and regions. You will also assist with the selection and coordination of souvenir products to volunteer World Series directors and track fulfillment of all purchase orders to ensure the delivery of desired goods/services are timely and are in correct pricing/quantities without sacrificing quality in meeting the organization’s needs. You will be involved with evaluating suppliers, reviewing the quality of products, and negotiating contracts with potential vendors for effective organizational operations.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PURCHASING ASSISTANT
Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Supply-Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Economics, or Business Administration.
Minimum of 3-5 years of verifiable experience in a purchasing role or purchasing education in lieu of experience.
Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques.
Talent in negotiations and networking.
Excellent organizational skills.
Proficient computer skills including working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing applications as well as in MS Office programs.
Familiarity and experience using both Purchasing software and Financial Systems software.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team.
Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with various departments and Regions.
Must have detailed knowledge of purchasing concepts.
Possess strong analytical skills and experience collecting and analyzing data.
Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent math and negotiation skills.
Must have a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Must be process-oriented while having the ability to build relationships.
