ROLE SUMMARY
The Director of Procurement is responsible for establishing and managing all aspects of strategic and operational procurement activity. This includes oversight of category management for production materials and contract manufacturing (“direct”) expenditures, capital expenditures, and non-production material goods, supplies and services (“Indirects”); management of operational procurement / purchasing activity; supplier management; related external expenditure analytics; annual budget and standard cost establishment for purchased materials, goods and services; supporting capital expenditures and projects; and management of procurement policy, procedure and related practices.
The objective of this role is to continuously improve through innovative solutions the value, quality and service received by Kindeva from its procurement practices and external provider base. In addition to effective sourcing and demand management practices, supplier relationship management, and risk management, this role requires significant data analysis, industry benchmarking, and knowledge management of relevant industry and market cost trends, to ensure proactive and relevant strategies are delivered in a timely manner aligned with current and future business requirements. It is charged with developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and key suppliers to ensure that stakeholder requirements are met, and supplier performance is measured and maintained at the appropriate service levels. The role works to assure continued supply of reliable quality materials, goods and services, and optimize our cash, cost value position with external providers as part of Kindeva’s integrated supply chain, while maintaining compliance.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership and manage all aspects of strategic and operational procurement activity, including:
- Sourcing, vendor selection and contracting process
- Category management for production materials and contract manufacturing (“direct”) expenditures, capital expenditures, and non-production material goods, supplies and services (“Indirects”)
- Operational procurement / requisition processing / purchasing activity
- Supplier development, performance management and improvement
- Lead and manage sourcing/vendor and category management strategies and plans; oversee development of spend-area category strategies.
- Establish annual budget and standard costs for purchased materials, goods and services, and related capital expenditures (e.g. tooling).
- Develop, manage, and assure compliance to procurement policies, procedures, and related practices.
- Understand and incorporate insights from external spend data analytics, relevant external supply and market considerations, category intelligence, and business requirements to enable the development of aligned procurement strategies with relevant stakeholders; and translate strategic plans into short term actions.
- Oversee and at times lead contract negotiations with current and prospective supplier vendors to secure the best overall terms, conditions, and value, with support as required from Legal department.
- Manage, develop, and improve supplier relationships to drive reliable performance, increasing value and innovation, including but not limited to:
- Assuring proper governance with suppliers to effectively manage and improve business; includes assuring appropriate means for communication, escalation, and decision-making.
- Establishing and managing supplier-based performance towards agreed outcomes, measures and metrics
- Leads resolution of any escalation of issues with vendors
- Exercise strong Business Partnering skills by building effective stakeholder relationships.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders at the Leadership Team level to ensure business needs are being addressed.
- Partner with other cross-functional leaders to implement effective processes and identify organizational improvement opportunities.
- Act as escalation point and subject matter expert for both internal and external parties. Establish and manage the governance processes with key suppliers and outsourced partners for categories in scope.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree required.
· 7-10 years relevant experience in procurement category management, supplier management, operational procurement
· Demonstrated knowledge of procurement systems, processes, and procedures.
· Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
· Influencing, persuasion and negotiation skills and techniques.
· Proven experience administering problem solving methodology.
· Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal interactions skills
· Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office tools; ability to navigate and utilize MS Excel, Work, PowerPoint and Office with high degree of proficiency; ability to utilize other network resources to find information, seek solutions and address questions.
